【摘要】:Significance8212;Driedbloodrepresentsasignificantchallengetocleaningsurgicalinstruments.Thewater-solublecomponentsofbloodareeasilyrenderedinsolublewhenexposedtoheat,chemicalsolutions,ortimeatroomtemperature.Thewaterinsolublecomponentofbloodisfibrinbuiltupduringcoagulation.Theseproteinsbindquitereadilytothesurfacesofsurgicalinstrumentsmakingthemdifficulttoremoveevenwiththeaidofchemicalcleaningagents.Instrumentscontaminatedwithbloodresidueafterreprocessingrepresentasignificantthreatforinfectiontohealthcareworkersandpatients.Healthcarefacilitiestypicallyemploytheuseofautomatedinstrumentwashers.Thesedevicescombinemechanicalactionalongwithchemicalcleaningagentsinastagedcleaningcycledesignedtothoroughlycleansurgicalinstruments.Tofunctionproperly,thesemachinesmustbeperformingattargetedmechanicalefficiencyanddeliverthecorrectchemicalcleaningagentsatthecorrecttemperature,atthecorrectdosageforthecorrectperiodoftime.Use8212;Theregular,periodicuseofthebloodsoiltestisasystemicchallengetothefunctioningofanautomatedwasher.Toproperlychallengethecleaningdevice,thetestmustbeanalogoustoboththedriedbloodsoilandtothephysicalbarrierspresentedbysurgicalinstruments.Thesephysicalbarriersincludetheboxlock,orpivotjointofahingedinstrument,theserratedtips,andcrevicesofsurgicalinstruments.Onthetestcoupon,thecomponentsofbloodmimicthestateofdriedbloodoninstruments.Bymountingthesoiledcouponinaplasticholderthephysicalbarriersrepresentedbycracksandcrevicesofinstruments(forexample,boxlocks)aremimicked.Usersareprovidedwithaninterpretationguidethataidsthemininterpretingresultsthatarelessthanoptimal.Forinstance,failuretoremovethefibrinlayerofbloodsoil(whichiswaterinsoluble)indicatesaproblemwiththechemicalcleaningagent(s).Failuretoevenlyremoveahemoglobinsoilindicatesamechanicalfailure.Failuretoremoveanysoilindicateseitheracatastrophicmechanicalfailure,orinappropriatesettingsfortheinitialrinsestage.1.1Thisguideisbasedonastandardizedtestsoilcorrelatingtocoagulatedbloodsuitableforscreeningtestsandtheevaluationofthecleaningefficiencyofwasher-disinfectorsusedforreprocessingofsurgicalinstruments.Thisguidestrictlydealswithcleaninganddoesnotdescribeanymethodsthatarerelatedtodisinfection.SeetheReferencedDocumentsinSection2foradditionalinformation.1.2ThevaluesgiveninSIunitsaretobeconsideredthestandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesandtodeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
